How important are regular preventive health checkups  ?

Very important but majority neglects it. We are waiting for medical problems to get serious and then it becomes very late most of the times.

Most of the people in my country cannot afford treatment when they get ill. How will they pay for these preventive check ups ? Even if government arranges free check ups, who will pay for treatment of problems discovered in this.
